The Jim Krause Memorial Charity Bicycle Ride of Point Loma is a ride in memory of our Point Loma Rotary fellow Jim Krause who unfortunately passed away 2012 from pancreatic cancer. We are putting this event together to raise awareness and funds to research and hopefully one day, a cure.

Each year we donate the majority of the funds to UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center who is dedicated to translating promising scientific discoveries into new options for the care of cancer patients. Founded in 1979, it ranks among the top centers in the nation conducting basic and clinical cancer research, providing advanced patient care, and serving the community through outreach and education programs. Rotary Club of Point Loma – The Host

For over 60 years, the Point Loma Rotary Club has provided support for local San Diego civic projects including: the Cabrillo, Ocean Beach and Robb Field Recreation Centers, Scouting, Peninsula YMCA, Point Loma Concert Series, Point Loma Library, A.R.T.S., Children’s Hospital Auxiliaries, Alpha Project, Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, Rescue Task Force, San Diego Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, Barnes Tennis Center, and Reality Changers. We have sponsored Point Loma students to develop leadership and public speaking skills through speech contests and leadership seminars. Internationally, our club funded Clean Water for Fiji, ShelterBox survival kits for the disasters in Haiti, Turkey, and Australia; established a project for earthquake preparedness; supported an elementary school in Ecuador; and provided funding for the eradication of polio.
